Evolution Managed IT Services have been supporting the Door and Hardware Federation with all their IT and technology needs for a few years now and part of the service we provide involves constantly assessing the changing needs of their business and implementing solutions to any issues that arise.
DHF’s offices are located in a beautiful rural location just outside Tamworth, however this brought its own challenges when it comes to internet connectivity. Part of their offering to members is a suite of training programmes. During the pandemic DHF were able to quickly adapt and offer online training to their members through their Online Training Academy. This online offering has continued alongside their on-site training to offer their members greater flexibility.
In order to support online training, DHF required a new stable and robust internet connectivity solution. Evolution Managed IT Services were able to support them in this journey by offering a leased line solution directly to the premises by managing the whole process from start through to final on-site connection.
We recommended a leased line to provide the speeds and reliability DHF required. Once again we worked alongside our partner 2 Circles Communications to arrange the required civil engineering work to install the cabling to their offices. We then provided on site technical attendance to finalise the installation and switch over to the leased line with minimal downtime.
Our engineers tested the new leased line, reconfigured the firewall and implemented failover to their existing 4G connection for extra resiliency.
The installation took a number of months due to the challenges imposed by the rural location and the amount of cabling that needed to be put in place by Openreach. However, this was all worth it, as DHF now have an internet connection they can rely on to conduct their high quality online training and other day to day operations. No longer are they plagued with speed fluctuations and occasional dropouts of the 4G connection.
